Ram Nation shared a sunday morning with VCU Hall of Famer, Pastor Calvin Duncan. Hear Calvin’s take on the Rams of the mid 80’s who were regulars in the NCAA and learn about Calvin’s decision to leave the NBA for a higher calling.

Pastor Calvin Duncan is such a tremendous blessing to me, my family and to countless others. Pastor Duncan often says “SUCCESSFUL people add value to themselves, but SIGNIFICANT people add value to others.” Pastor Duncan, you are one of those “significant” people who reaches out to help others realize they are significant and help them reach their God-given potential.
Pastor Duncan sees GREATNESS inside every person he meets and will make sure you know it. He truly exemplifies tremendous Christ-like characteristics. One in particular is that of genuine love — the kind of love that comes from his FATHER GOD WHO IS LOVE. He loves people.
Thank you Pastor Duncan for being a chosen vessel of God who is telling everybody about Somebody who can save anybody. That Somebody is the Lord Jesus Christ.
Great interview!!! Pastor Duncan has an awesome testimony and showed great character in his decisions. He’s an inspiration to so many, including myself. He’s a great Pastor, mentor and friend. My hope is that we can have more men stand up and represent Christ boldly as our Pastor does and as he has taught countless others to do. Especially those who are in the public eye. He is truly blessed beyond measure and he and his family are such a blessing to the FFC family and the community. He is a Significant Person!!! God bless you Pastor Duncan. As a frequent visitor to FFC I was aware of Pastor Duncan’s eloquence. It was a pleasure to see Pastor Duncan have an opportunity to speak of God in a secular venue. I feel his advice to young athletes is valuable to all young people.
Former b-ball great becomes a “God pleaser”. Awesome is a word that describes my pastor. He loves God’s people and he is always trying to build people up and bring them closer to God. Like King David’s “cave of Adullum” (check out 1 Samuel 22: 1-2), Faith and Family Church has become a place of safety and healing for people who are in need. Keep doing what you do Pastor, and God bless you!

Only God can make a man leave the fame and fortune for true wealth and prosperity. Great is your reward. Imagine all the lives you have influenced because of your conviction to the call of God. Average is the best of the worst and the worst of the best. Thank God you were far above average. Many are called, but few are chosen. Live Long. Love God.

I enjoyed listning to your interview. You have a great memory regarding names and places from your college days, as well as your professional era. Thank you for allowing The Lord Our GOD to direct your foot path. I believe in doing so, you’re still playing ball, leading sheep to the Free Throw Line (getting reborn again, baptized, and supplying manna (GODs word), keeping our eyes on the ball (staying focus on the things of GOD), and making the shot
(holding on until JESUS comes / the next resurrection.)
A man of integrity, fortitude, and passion is the shadow that follows Calvin Duncan. His selfless stance of giving up basketball for the Lord is priceless. I know God interprets his tears and his cry for His people. Calvin desires that people would grow spiritually and have their own relationship with the Lord. As founder of Faith and Family Church, God has graced him to “not have church as usual,” but to have a body of people growing in righteousness. He has never met a stranger and he has the tenacity to reach nations. By taking the road less traveled, he is a living legacy.
Pastor is someone who is significant because he truely cares for others and is always willing to help others to be the best they can be without a second thought. It is awesome when you have someone in your life who truely cares about you reaching your full potential and being the best you can be. He is an awesome Shepard who loves all people and his ultimate desire is to see people reach their full potential in Christ. We love you Pastor.
Pastor Duncan you are a man of integrity who want to tell everyone about the living God that we serve. Basketball was just a stepping stone to get you to the place were you are now. Your passion for the game showed then and your passion for Christ shows now. Anyone that looks at the interview has to think about the choices they made and still have to make in life. When I here people talk about Calvin Duncan I here words like:
Integrity, Fortitude, Righteous, Courageous, Significant,
Tremendous, Awesome, Aware, GOD Pleaser, Inspiration, Conviction,
Professional, Believer, “Fisher of Men” and a man that Doesn’t
settle. To me, all these words barely scratch the surface of
who I know to be Calvin Duncan going on about 11 years now.
this man of GOD is street savvy and he doesn’t just talk the talk,
he “is”, walking the walk. I (TRUST) him, Love, him, he is a
true Friend and you can count on getting it straight-”uncut” !!!He’s a great source of information and most importantly,
he “LOVES GOD” knows and (LIVES) his word. He has been and continues

Great interview of a great man. I say man and not Pastor because long before he was a Pastor he was faithful to God and always had a heart of love and compassion for people. Pastor Duncan encouraged and prayed for me while I was student, provided counseling to me as I was preparing for marriage and has been there for me in the midst of many challenges. His decision to leave the NBA and follow God’s calling still astounds me, and I know that there are many blessings that have come and will come from that sincere decision. Pastor Duncan is a true man of God, living and doing what God has called him to do at all times. Since joining FFC I have watched your zeal for God, seen your overwhelming compassion for God’s people, and your dedication has inspired me to continue to grow in the word and the things of God.
