Great interview, Calvin and I came to VCU in 1981. Unlike Calvin I went to Jr College instead of Prep School so I came in as a jr and Calvin as a freshman. I believe that recruiting class was the best in school history. 81-82 returned seniors Monty Knight and Kenny Stancel who previously were All Sunbelt Conference performers. We only won 18 or 19 games and did not get invited to the NCAA Tournament. In 82-83 Calvin and I became All Sunbelt Conference and All Virginia performers with Calvin being named co player of the year. We started 1 senior, 3 sophmores and 1 freshman. We had the 2nd longest winning streak in the nation behind the University of Houston & received a buy to the NCAAs. We lost the game to go to the sweet sixteen to the University of Georgia by 1 point who went to the final four. Calvin and I shared many awards and honors in 82-83 and was considered the 1, 2 punch but our teammates were just as valuable. 81-85 featured 6 players drafted to the NBA. Kenny Stancel, Monty Knight, Fred Brown, Calvin Duncan, Mike Schlegel and Rolando Lamb. 4 of the 82-83 starters were drafted though 3 of them were in 85 thats an example of the depth we had. At that time (1985) VCU had 17 players drafted to the NBA. Today (2010) VCU has 19. We were a mid major with major talent on the rise in the early 80s. I can only imagine if I went to prep school and had 2 more years to play with Calvin. Calvin God Bless you are one of Gods soldiers and will always be my brother. Call me!

Committed, consistent, focused, personable, strong, a bearer of the truth. These are just a few things that describe Pastor Calvin Duncan. Thank you for living your life for Jesus and coaching/encouraging us to do the same everyday. For it is the greatest and best decision we could ever make in the game of life.

Pastor Calvin Duncan is an awesome man of God! I am so glad to read this interview and share a comment here about the Man and the Pastor. It is amazing to know him and experience his energy and enthusiasm for helping others to be BETTER people and show their love for the Lord Jesus and for one another. Pastor Duncan is a person of great integrity, AND he is not afraid to tell people who the source of his strength and energy is... JESUS. He is transparent in all his ways. He raises up a standard for all men and women to be proud to follow! I am so glad he is my pastor and ever present friend in times of need. You really have to experience his energy for yourself! (7900 Walmsley Blvd, Richmond, VA. 23235 at 8, 10 and Noon every Sunday) May God always protect him and his wonderful family!

Pastor Duncan is a true man of God, living and doing what God has called him to do at all times. Since joining FFC I have watched your zeal for God, seen your overwhelming compassion for God's people, and your dedication has inspired me to continue to grow in the word and the things of God. I'm so greatful that God lead our family from Los Angeles California to you and our FFC family. Thank you for being our Pastor but most of all thank you for being my friend.
