Today’s win over Akron marked the first CAA victory in this year’s ESPN’s BracketBuster Tournament. It also marked Senior, T.J. Gwynn as the most winning VCU Ram along with Eric Maynor.

In a match up that put former pupil against his mentor, Coach Smart and the Rams were determined to have a full defensive effort for 40 minutes. The Rams forced the Zips to shoot a meager 21-66 from the field. The Rams also received great help from back up point guard, Darius Theus, who went 3-3 from the field ending with 10 points.

The Rams will have a rematch against the Dukes of JMU this Wednesday at the Stu, 7:30pm.

  • Whoosh says:

Theus even TALKS like Maynor…It’s almost scary. If he’s ha;f as good as Eric, with the class we have coming in, we’re in for a great few years.

  • Sam says:

I was trying to tell people this!! i thought i was the only one who noticed Theus’ uncanny resemblance to Maynor.
