VCU Athletics is reporting that incoming freshmen Jordan Burgess have been ruled Ineligible for the 2012-2013 season. Jordan will practice with the team but Mo will have to sit out one full year. They retain scholarships during this time:
RICHMOND, Va. – Freshmen Jordan Burgess and Mo Alie-Cox of the VCU men’s basketball team have been declared partial qualifiers by the NCAA, thus not being eligible for competition for the 2012-13 season.
Burgess will be allowed to participate in practice throughout the year. Alie-Cox will not participate in practice or competition this year, but will be on scholarship. Both will be eligible for competition in 2013-14.
“Both Jordan and Mo have begun their academic careers at VCU in an exemplary way,” Head Coach Shaka Smart said. Ëach student-athlete’s long term development, on and off the court, remains our primary focus.”

dang RT @VCURamNation: Jordan Burgess, Mo Alie-Cox Ineligible For 2012-2013 Season: http://t.co/EBW1zvwX
@VCURamNation why are they ineligible? This seems like some major bs.
Fuuuuuck! MT @VCURamNation Jordan Burgess, Mo Alie-Cox Ineligible For 2012-2013 Season incomin… http://t.co/UG1s2OgH
@VCURamNation Impression: Burgess was to be depth at the three. Alie-Cox would fight for PT. Hurts, but not devastating. Thoughts?
@_chrisjoness I’m not sure, I just saw it on their facebook page. Heres the link: http://t.co/bArLNxL4
@VCURamNation nutz… I was so looking forward to being a Mo-niac. But even so we have an awsome team to unleash on the A-10.
So what’s tis really mean? Why aren’t they eligible?
