Photos – VCU vs VA Union (Preseason)

VCU opened the Siegel Center for the 2010-2011 season as the Rams took down Virginia Union 71-56. Newcomers Toby Veal and Rob Brandenberg both had outstanding debut performances contributing a combined 17 points and 9 rebounds. VCU will count on senior Joey Rodriguez to reach full health for its season opener next Friday against UNC Greensboro.

Larry Sanders spent his afternoon signing autographs and delivering an uncontested strike during the “hometown heroes” first pitch ceremony at the Diamond. The Richmond Flying Squirrels memorialized his visit, giving him an official Flying Squirrels jersey with his name and the number 8 on the back.

In perhaps one of the biggest games of the CAA tournament this year, ODU was able to stop the energy that VCU had coming off tournament wins against Delaware and George Mason. ODU will now move on to the NCAA tournament (with an automatic bid) while VCU hopes for an NIT bid.
