At Murray State, basketball is king. They practically worship the program there. Why go to a mid-low tier ACC school where you are unappreciated?
Wow. I guess that really makes me appreciate what we have even more. Murray State has a rich basketball tradition and just had one of the most successful seasons in school history. Yet, their coach makes 4x less than ours.

I don't know...seems a little...I don't know...desperate? http://www2.timesdispatch.com/sport...rt01-for-hokies-search-already-on-ar-1866545/
The whole department seems to be a mess. From firing a coach with a recruit in town to having all the assistants in leave, this job seems to be a career death sentence. Even the reason they gave for firing was discredited. I think VT will not pay enough to get the top talent. They will end up with a 3rd rate coach looking to jump ship from a team with no hope for the next couple of years.
I know that Blaine is an easy target for poking fun of, but I think that he's a good coach. Honestly, I think that he'd be a good choice for Tech, given that their options are going to be limited at this juncture.
Tech needs to sell this hire to the alumni base. They need someone young and full of energy. Blaine Taylor is a lot of things, but young he is not.
A big strong front line and a couple good guards all with a lock down defense could work at Tech. BT could recruit that for the Blacksburg atmosphere, maybe every so often a two sport athlete - think Peppers at UNC a few years ago. And, in the ACC he should be able to recruit guys that can shoot and maybe even make free throws. He's a good fit.
