All of that wouldn't work. The student athletes are the drop in a bucket not the year they are losing. Who cares if some kid doesn't get to play in a CAA tournament game one year? It doesn't matter in the big picture. There are only other conferences wanting us because we are good. Towson doesn't have conferences clamoring for them and we should leave them alone. When you are a good team and a good program and are in a period where we just went to a final four obviously people want us. This isn't about the CAA it's about any conference we are in. We left for greener pastures but what happens when if we become the Towson of the A10 (leave them alone). It is so good teams can't keep jumping around and kill other programs. You get a solid conference and have ebb and flow and some parody in a conference. You don't want a bunch of changeover because it ruins college sports. Student athletes will never have a say. EVER. They shouldn't either. They are there to get an education and most are getting it for free. If they have a professional dream than by all means reach those goals and have a voice in the players union. This isn't a job. It is an opportunity. What is one Conference tournament in the history of the school? If the team is good enough to get an at large it means next to nothing.
The CAA has been good to VCU and VCU has been good for the CAA. I would agree that it was voted on years ago to have exit fees and not to allow teams to compete that are leaving the league. Leagues have to have a way to create stability and protect themselves from mass exits. I wish the CAA all the success in the world and its remaining member schools as well. The rules are the rules and I would agree that if we were still there we would want the rules to still apply. I am happy with our move to the A10 but at the same time I still wish the best for The CAA.
the point is not "the rules are the rules" the point is rules can be changed if you are cutting off your nose to spite your face. The CUSA is a better conference with a Memphis in the tourney, the A-10 is a better conference with a Temple in the tourney and they know it. The "rule" has the CAA scrambling to find a venue for the tourney.
The CAA isn't scrambling to find a venue for the tournament. They thought about moving the tournament and still might but they aren't scrambling for anything.
whatever don't make any difference to me I will be going to the VHSL regional tourney at the SC anyway along with most of Richmond.
