Just when everyone thought Shaka Smart was done with the class of 2013, the staff received a commitment from 6’3, 165-pound guard Doug Brooks out of Lake Wales, Florida (hometown of 6-time NBA All-Star Amar’e Stoudemire). The VCU Rams open up the 2012-2013 campaign against the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles of the Atlantic Sun Conference. The game is connected to the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. Shaka Smart and the VCU basketball program capped off an impressive 2013 recruiting class this morning with a highly-recruited 3-star big man out of Miami in 6’9 240-pound Antravious Simmons.
