World meet Rob Brandenberg, Rams defeat the Tribe

Brandenberg

After a good conference win in Wilmington against UNCW, the Rams looked to add to another road win just down 64 East in Williamsburg. VCU would have to play without Senior guard Brandon Rozzell, who led the Rams with 22 points against the Seahawks. Due to a broken hand sustained in practice this week, the Black-and-Gold will be without their sharp shooter for 2 to 4 weeks. Last time the Tribe of William & Mary played the Rams, it was [...]

Preseason NIT: Winthrop Game Preview

WUPY2E5186

With all the talk about Wake Forest and going to Madison Square Garden, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that we still have to get by our first-round opponent in the Winthrop Eagles on November 15th. The Winthrop program is as close to a dynasty as you’ll get in college basketball today, with 9 Big South Championships in the past 12 seasons dating back to 1999 (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010). Their lone NCAA [...]

Off and running; Rams conquer the Spartans

SkeenUNCG

After honoring late VCU Broadcaster, Terry Sisisky, the Rams got their first win of the season against the Spartans from UNC Greensboro, 101-86. A game that saw at least three Rams with 20 points or more. The Spartans, out of the Southern Conference, didn’t have much tape to watch of these young Rams. Having game film of the Rams might not have been much help. Playing the Rams this year is like playing Russian roulette with all 6 chambers full. [...]

Video: VCU Dominates UNCW

TJUNCW

Not even Coach Smart could have asked for a better way to start the new year. After losing to the William & Mary Tribe to start conference play back in December, the Rams picked up the pace and controlled every facet of Saturday’s contest against UNCW. Every Ram saw action and every Ram scored. Jaime Skeen had 10 points and 9 rebounds along with 5 assists from both Joey Rodriguez and T.J. Gwynn. VCU led by as many as 46 [...]

BREAKING NEWS: 2010 Rams Mean Business

Jamie Skeen

VCU started 2010 in style …by dominating UNCW in every aspect of the game to the tune of a 91-57 home victory. The Rams jumped out to a 10-0 lead and never looked back, holding UNCW to single digits the first 18 minutes of the game on just 16.7% shooting from the field. At times the game resembled that of a Harlem Globetrotter’s exhibition with UNCW playing the part of the Washington Generals (complete with 15 first half turnovers, 28 [...]

Ram Nation gets a glimpse at practice

rams

VCU opened its Franklin Street gym doors this evening and gave a group of media members the first glimpse of a Shaka Smart lead VCU basketball team. We at Ram Nation have had the privilege of being able to cover VCU hoops for some time now, but have never had a Coach allow access to an actual practice…so we owe ya one Coach (and you too Scott Day, VCU SID). We were able to catch the tail end of practice [...]
