WMU hands Rams first Road loss, 83-67

western-michigan-university-arenaVCU came out gunning tonight in Kalamazoo and lead by as many as 17 over the Western Michigan Broncos. Unfortunately for the Rams, college basketball games are longer than 10 minutes and that 17 point lead ended in a 16 point road loss.

The Rams seemed doomed by foul trouble early racking up 15 to WMU’s 9 in the first half, allowing WMU to stay within arms length. The black and gold were ultimately done in by miserable second half shooting however, and hit only 30% of their shots on the night.

Joey Rodriguez, who lead the Rams in scoring a game ago, shot just 2-16 from the field, missing all of his 8 long range attempts.

Bradford Burgess lead the Rams with 16 points on the night, half of which came at the charity stripe. Burgess hit 3 of 11 shots from the field, 2 of which were from long range.

The Broncos out rebounded VCU 48-33 in the win, avenging their 17 point loss to the Rams in Richmond this past year.

VCU will have very little time to sulk, as #17 Oklahoma rolls into Richmond for a 7:30 tip at the Siegel Center.
