Friday Lunch Plans – VCU Fans vs. Richmond Fans

BLACK & BLUE LUNCHEON SET FOR FRIDAY AT HOME TEAM GRILL IN THE FAN

RICHMOND, Va. – In most offices around the country, more time is wasted trying to decide where to eat lunch then the actual lunch itself.

Well, that won’t be the case Friday in the Metro Richmond area as fans from both Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Richmond collide at Home Team Grill in the Fan for the Farm Bureau Insurance Black & Blue Classic Luncheon, hosted by ESPN Radio 950’s Greg Burton.

Head Coaches Shaka Smart of VCU and Chris Mooney of the University of Richmond will both be in attendance and will spend time answering questions from both Burton and fans for the upcoming game on Saturday evening, which is the 64th meeting between the two schools.

The coaches will arrive around 11:30 before going on air live with Burton in the 12 o’clock hour.

Also a part of the annual function will once again be the Salvation Army Holiday Cheer and Gear. This program collects new sporting goods; footballs, basketballs, baseballs, bats, gloves, soccer balls, and other items to benefit The Salvation Army’s Christmas Assistance Programs.

“Although we have a multitude of wonderful programs that help children each year, we realized a few years ago that there was a desire for sporting goods with some of the older children we serve,” said Jeff Baldwin, public relations director for the Richmond Salvation Army.

Matt has been reporting on VCU sports for Ram Nation since 2007 with a focus on news, photos, and feature stories.
