VCU Rolls, 112-53

TeamstoBeatVCU came into tonight’s matchup having won 15 of the past 16 meetings against the Towson Tigers. At no point was that streak in danger tonight as the Rams cruised to 14-5 on the season, 6-4 in conference play.

The Rams got off to a blazing start behind a barrage of Bradford Burgess threes. Burgess lead the Rams with 22 points, 18 of which came from long range…in perhaps the most impressive 14 minutes of play by any Ram this season.

The Rams could not miss from three point land, hitting an astounding 20 of 33 three point attempts.

Larry Sanders had his 6th double double of the season by halftime, dominating the Tigers to the tune of 15 points and 11 rebounds to start the game. Sanders finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds to go along with 2 blocks on the evening.

Much of Sanders’ points came through Joey Rodriguez who had dropped 10 assists by the end of the first half. Rodriguez finished the game with 3 points, 3 boards, and a career high 13 assists.

Every Ram saw time on the court and nearly every Ram scored in VCU’s most lopsided win of the season. Tonight’s 112 points were a season high for the CAA’s top offensive team.

Brandon Rozzell (16), Jay Gavin (12), and TJ Gwynn (11) rounded out the group of double digit scorers.

VCU will take on Georgia State this Saturday, homecoming style. The Rams defeated the Panthers by 13 in Atlanta on January 16th.
