Former VCU Coach Dana Kirk Dead at 74

OriginalFormer VCU men’s basketball coach Dana Kirk has died of an apparent heart attack at the age of 74.

Kirk Coached the Rams three seasons between ’76-’79 where he lead VCU to a 67-23 record. After leaving VCU he coached Memphis State through 1986, including an ’85 trip to the Final 4 which was eventually vacated when the school was found guilty of NCAA violations.

He was fired by Memphis after the 1986 season before being indicted on income tax evasion.
