This may not have been the Rams first choice of tournaments this season but the team has been playing well all while getting some nice help from Jamie Skeen and Freshmen Darius Theus and Troy Daniels.
In the opening round of the College Basketball Invitational, the Rams went into D.C. and beat the Colonials of George Washington University. The next two rounds would find them in a familiar, welcoming place, the Siegel Center.
At home the Rams took on (future) Hall of Fame Coach Bobby Cremins and his Cougars of the College of Charleston, grabbing a nice win to advance to host Boston University in the semifinals of the CBI.
Forward, Larry Sanders, was just two rebounds shy of another double double but the night belonged to junior, Joey Rodriguez, as he became the 4th CAA player, 2nd VCU player along with Eric Maynor to drop 200 plus assists in one season.
The Rams will take on St. Louis in a best of three series for the CBI Championship. The first game is this Monday, March 29th, at The Siegel Center. Remainder of the games to be played on Monday at (March 29th) Wednesday (March 31) & Friday (April 2).
