Shaka Smart looks to have added yet another piece to VCU’s promising future, after recently getting a verbal committment from 2012 recruit Mo Alie-Cox.

The standout power foward from Middleburg Academy made a splash onto the national scene after a breakout performance this past January at the VirginiaPreps.com Basketball Classic, and averaged 16 points, 12 rebounds and a ridiculous 7 blocks per game this past season.

At 6’6 and 235 lbs. (although recently reported at 251 by the Richmond Times-Dispatch), Alie-Cox is reported to have a 7′-1″ wingspan which he uses to dominate the glass — recording multiple 20-rebound games this past season.

Alie-Cox becomes the second class of 2012 recruit to give his verbal to the black-and-gold, joining fellow big and top 100 recruit Justin Tuoyo in what could be a dominating front court for the Rams.
