The VCU Rams baseball team will take on the top-ranked UVA Cavaliers and their 42-5 record in a 7PM contest at the Diamond tonight.

Paul Keyes’ squad is coming off an NCAA tournament appearance having won last season’s CAA Tournament title, but sits seven games under .500 this spring.

The Rams come into this one having lost two-of-three in a home stand against the Delaware Blue Hens, but hope to get it going infront of a larger than normal crowd that will include the likes of men’s basketball coach Shaka Smart, who will be on hand to throw out the first pitch.

VCU may need some of Smart’s magic to take out this Goliath, as the Cavaleirs are coming off a road series win against Boston College in which they outscored the Eagles 25-5.

Will Shaka take this opportunity to practice his rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, as the coach is scheduled to do at a Chicago Cubs game this Sunday at Wrigley field?

Only one way to find out…
