This Selection Sunday was a bit different than last year’s for the Rams.
The entire team and staff assembled at the Siegel Center to watch the announcement together with a live CBS feed for the national audience. Last year they each watched it on their own, some didn’t even watch at all.
However this year the 2012 Rams knew their name would be called, the only question was where they were headed and who they would face.
This afternoon that question was answered, and VCU finds themselves a No.12 seed playing 5th-seeded Wichita State in Portland, Oregon on Thursday at 7:15PM EST.
The Rams faced Wichita State last year as part of the ESPN Bracketbuster series and barely got by them then en route to an at-large bid for the black-and-gold that rewrote NCAA tournament history books.
This year’s matchup will look very different however, WSU entering the contest as the heavily experienced squad, starting four seniors and a junior, the Rams coming into this one one of the ten youngest teams in the country.
