The Richmond Times-Dispatch is reporting that Interim Athletic Director David Benedict will be leaving VCU for a gig with Norwood Teague at Minnesota. He has filled in for two months since Norwood announced his departure, and assisted in VCU’s conference move from the CAA to the A10 during that time.
It might be HOT this week in Richmond, but this nothing compared to the frigid winters in Duluth, Minnesota!
Benedict said in a text message that he is taking a position on Norwood Teague’s staff at Minnesota. Teague, who announced in late April he was leaving VCU to become the Gophers’ AD, recently started his new job there.
Benedict, VCU’s executive associate athletic director since 2010, had expressed interest in the position since being named interim AD on May 12.
