The day Jamie Skeen went against three NBA lottery picks…and won

Just a quick thought on this year’s NBA Draft…

Thomas Robinson, anyone heard of him? He’s the breakout Kansas junior who’s currently hovering around the top two picks in most NBA mock drafts, and deservedly so after  a spectacular season with the Jayhawks that saw him post 17.9 points and 11.8 rebounds/game en route to a national title appearance.

In two days, Robinson will get drafted, making him the third Kansas big man in two years to find himself drafted in the NBA lottery. Add that to the chapter of VCU v Kansas.

VCU forward Jamie Skeen may not have found his way into last year’s NBA Draft as Ram fans expected, but on Sunday, March 27, 2011, he went head-to-head against three NBA lottery picks: 717 combined pounds of Jayhawk, 6’10” x 3…and won.

Skeen, one of just two VCU scorers to hit double digits, lead all players with a game high 26 points, hitting 4-of-7 from distance, and grabbed 10 rebounds in VCU’s greatest win in the history of the program.

One game does not a career make, but you gotta respect a guy’s talent when he can go against what NBA GMs consider the best the college game has to offer (x3), and be the brightest star on the court.
