Deputy AD Ellis to follow Teague to Minnesota

Sid Hartman of the Star Tribune is reporting VCU Deputy AD Mike Ellis will follow former Athletic Director Norwood Teague to Minnesota.

Ellis served as an assistant coach at VCU before joining the athletic department, totaling 19 years with the black and gold.

The Butner, NC native’s main focus at VCU was fundraising and development, but was also one of the mind’s behind VCU’s Villa 7 program that brought first-time head coaches Anthony Grant and Shaka Smart to VCU. Ellis served as an adjunct faculty member at VCU’s Center for Sport Leadership graduate program as well as the color commentary man next to Robby Robinson on the Ram Radio broadcasts of VCU games.

Ellis joins Teague and recent interim AD David Benedict as the third member to leave VCU for Minnesota.
