Hurricanes, Halloween and hoops are sure to make for an exciting week in RVA. The following are our picks for the must-see/do VCU related events during this incredibly action-packed week.

AD Q&A: Fan of VCU Athletics or a daydreamer of what it would like to be an Athletic Director of a program like VCU? Well tomorrow is your chance to ask new VCU AD Ed McLaughlin whatever is on your mind. McLaughlin will be answering questions through VCU’s first-ever #AskEd Twitter Q&A. Here are the details from VCU’s official release.
Beginning October 30th, Ram fans will have the opportunity each month to get an inside look at VCU athletics by asking questions to Ed McLaughlin, Director of Athletics, via Twitter.
From now until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30th, use the hashtag #AskEdVCU to ask McLaughlin any question you’d like. At that time, McLaughlin will sit down for 30 minutes and respond to as many questions as possible from his personal Twitter account (@GoVCURamsAD).
Each Q&A session will also be recapped on VCUathletics.com so fans can see all the questions and answers. This Q&A session with McLaughlin will occur each month with the date being announced the week before in order for fans to submit their questions.
Be sure to follow McLaughlin on Twitter and submit your questions for this month’s session by October 30th using the designated hashtag.
Wednesday, October 31st, 5Pm
Halloween fiesta: Our good friends at Baja are hosting the first annual “Havoc on Halloween Peppa Rally”. The celebration will include appearances by the Diet Peppas (a streamlined version of the VCU pep band), the NEW Rodney the Ram, the original creature from the Black Lagoon and voice of Ram Radio…Robby Robinson, free pom poms for the first 150 guests, and CASH PRIZES for the most “spirited” costumes. The Bean will also be giving out 16 pinatas with surprises in each as well as t-shirts and tickets to upcoming games.

Men’s basketball: VCU v. Virginia Union in our first and only exhibition game. Not much explanation needed on this one. Standing room only rowdiness on Broad St and the first glimpse at the 2012-13 VCU Rams. Excited enough yet?
Women’s Soccer: After an impressive 11-4-4 season the VCU women’s soccer team heads to Kingston, R.I. for A-10 quarterfinal action against the Hawks of St. Joseph’s (9-6-4, 4-2-3 A-10). This is the first matchup of the two Atlantic 10 teams this season. The Rams will need to go on a 3-game winning streak to get to the NCAA tournament. VCU haven’t lost in five games and are winners of six of their last eight.
Friday, Nov 2
Volleyball: The ladies of VCU volleyball are 23-3 ….23-3. That’s legit. Unfortunately the Flyers of Dayton University (19-4, 11-0) remain in the Rams way if they want to win a regular season A-10 title. VCU will get a shot at those Flyers on Sunday, but first must take on the Muskateers of Xavier (17-9, 9-2) first at the Siegel Center this Friday, 7Pm at the Stu.
Men’s Soccer: The black and gold make the short trip to take on crosstown rival Richmond (6-11, 2-6) in an A-10 regular season trap game. The Rams are rolling and notched up with Charlotte at 6-1-1 in A-10 play. If they want a shot at the top seed in next week’s A-10 men’s soccer tournament, they’ll need to take care of business against the Spiders this Friday.
Field Hockey: The Rams started the season a solid 7-0 before dropping three of their first four as a new A-10 member. After winning their last four, VCU will look to end strong starting with their first-ever A-10 tourny game against #16 Richmond in a rematch of their 3-1 loss on October 12th. The game gets under way at 11AM in Amherst, Mass as the 4th-seeded Rams take on the No.1 seed Spiders in conference tournament action.
Saturday, Nov 3
Wedding Bells: Not open to the public, but a special congratulations to VCURamNation.com’s very own IT/Photo guru Matt Morton. Mort and fiance Liz (a die-hard Ram fan herself) will be tying the knot that day, and we ask that you help us wish them years of wedded bliss and VCU memories as a married couple.
