Yesterday and Today…

VCU rightfully took center stage yesterday, but today, as the notebook continues to produce quality quotes, it's time to spin back around the A10 for some news.

Dayton senior center Matt Kavanaugh was "suspended for the remainder of the academic year as a result of
violations of the University of Dayton Standards of Behavior and Code of
Conduct." The 6-10 Kavanaugh was 9/0/5.9 last seasonm and was elected co-captain by his teammates.

Dayton also released its free live streaming schedule, for those interested. Clip-and-save note: VCU gets Dayton on January 9. The Flyers play UAB on January 5, streamed at 7pm. VCU plays Lehigh in a 5pm contest (if you want to scout post-game).

Charlotte
guard DeMario Mayfield suffered a high right ankle
sprain in practice last week. He will miss the Niners exhibition against Pfeiffer (alma mater of former UNCW coach Benny Moss) but is expected to be ready for the start of the season. Mayfield finished third on
the team in scoring (11.2ppg) and second
in rebounding (7.0rpg) last year. VCU travels to Charlotte on February 9.

UMass added an exhibition game against American International College on November 3. (Quick primer here, with UMass using the no respect chip.)

More UMass: a name to learn is Raphael Putney, who I'm told has a lot of Kendrick Warren in him. Here's a profile.

St. Bonaventure has unveiled its athletics strategic plan. Interesting facts in there for VCU fans to catch up and learn.

Here's Grantland, with some St. Louis information. Scroll down to The Roughnecks.

Side note: one week from today, you will be making actual travel plans for an actual game–the Virginia Union exhibition. Just wanted to point that out.
