Daniels hits 11 threes as VCU blasts ETSU

Troy Daniels was once again lights out as all of his career high 33 points came from behind the arch tonight, hitting 11 of his 20 attempts to break the VCU and Atlantic 10 single-game three point record while blasting East Tennessee State 109-58.

The Rams dominated the Bucs in every facet of the game, shooting 54.8% on offense while forcing 24 steals on defense.

VCU outrebounded ETSU 51 to 23, lead by Troy Daniels and Treveon Graham with 10 a piece. It was Daniels’ first career double double.

Graham finished second to Daniels in scoring posting 19 points in a team-high 25 minutes of play.

Juvonte Reddic (14) and Melvin Johnson (10) rounded out the list of double-digit scorers for VCU, with Johnson sniffing a double double as well, grabbing nine rebounds in his 21 minutes on the floor.

Daniel’s 11 threes broke his own record set just a game ago when he hit nine against Fairleigh Dickinson. The senior guard is averaging 9 made threes and 28.3 points per game over his last three contests.

The Rams were especially impressive despite being without the services of their fourth leading scorer, Rob Brandenberg (10.7 ppg).

VCU moves to 11-3 on the season after winning their eighth straight contest since returning from the Bahamas.

The Rams winning streak has been by an average of 23.87 points per contest.

VCU returns to Richmond to take on the Mountain Hawks of Lehigh (9-3) Saturday at 5PM.

Lehigh is lead by the nation’s leading scorer CJ McCullum. The preseason All-American honorable mention is averaging 25.7 points per game this season.
