Video: Rams win fifth straight, blowout GW

8480888862_d7cfcb5e37_bVCU scored just two points in the first five minutes and 40 seconds of tonight’s game against George Washington. Unfortunately for the Colonials, they scored 82 after that.

The Rams started off slow but eventually blew past GW, winning 84-57 in front of yet another capacity crowd tonight.

Juvonte Reddic was dominant throughout, leading with a game highs in points and rebounds, posting 24 points and 10 boards, giving the junior his ninth double-double of the season.

Reddic added two blocks and two steals in a night VCU had 19 total.

Once again havoc was on display, as the Rams turned George Washington over 25 times on the night.

The black-and-gold shot a hot 53.3% on the game and hit 8-of-17 3-pointers on the night while holding GW to just 38.9% from the field and giving up just a single make from long range.

Freshman Melvin Johnson had his second-straight double-digit night, adding 11 points on 5-9 shooting. Troy Daniels and Rob Brandenberg also added 11 each, rounding out the list of double-digit scorers for VCU.

The win moves the Rams to 21-5 on the season and a league leading 9-2 in Atlantic 10 play.

VCU will look to hold on to that lead against a tough St. Louis team Tuesday night. The Billikens sit .5 games behind the Rams at 8-2 and are riding a seven-game winning streak.

VCU’s next three opponents are all within the top five of the league.
