Troy Daniels took home the title of 3-point champ in this year’s State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships.
Daniels competed against a select group of eight graduating seniors, outlasting them all through three rounds for the Men’s title, then defeated the women’s champ in the battle of champions, 23-15, to complete a successful evening in Atlanta, Georgia.
Daniels led the competition off, hitting a 16-point opening round, good for a tie for fourth, but winning the tie-breaker (more “money balls” hit) to advance to the second round.
There, the VCU sharpshooter put the pressure on by scoring a round high 23 points to lead off the round, eventually tying Indiana guard, Jordon Hulls, with both advancing to the head-to-head final.
Daniels then hit a 17-point round while Hulls managed just 15, giving the Ram the Men’s Championship and a ticket to the battle of champions where he would go on to defeat women’s champion Aulani Sinclair.
The event is a part of the Final 4 festivities held in Atlanta this weekend. Troy will next compete in the Reese’s College All-Star game held at the Georgia Dome tonight at 5PM.
