ESPN has released the schedule and bracket for the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. VCU will face off against Florida State in their first tournament game, their first rematch since VCU beat Florida State by a single point to advance to the Elite 8 in 2011. It will also be an opportunity for Florida State transfer Terrance Shannon (Senior, PF) to prove his worth to his former team. The winner of the first match-up will advance to play either Michigan (REVENGE!!!) or Long Beach State.
While perhaps not as strong a field as last year’s Battle For Atlantis, this year’s Puerto Rico Tip-Off offers a nice range of teams:
- Northeastern
- Kansas State
- Charlotte
- Georgetown
- Long Beach State
- Michigan
- Florida State
- VCU
ESPN’s Myron Medcalf published an article this morning which has 5 out of 6 analysts selecting VCU to win the whole thing:
