Guest dislocates ankle

MKM_8019Fresh off a trip overseas with Rob Brandenberg, rising junior, Jarred Guest, reportedly dislocated his ankle in individual workouts today. Ram Radio color commentator and VCU insider, Michael Litos, first reported the injury.

Guest averaged 2.1 points and 2.5 rebounds for VCU in 10.5 minutes per game last season. The Columbia, SC native showed flashes as a sophomore, including a 17-point performance in just 16 minutes against the Hatters of Stetson University early last year.

The Rams lost two bigs from last season in junior, DJ Haley (transfer), and redshirt senior, David Hinton. VCU added 6’8 Terrance Shannon from Florida State after averaging 7.9 points and 5.6 rebounds as a junior for the Noles, and brings in three newcomers in Mo Alie-Cox — who was forced to sit last season due to eligibility issues — 6’8 freshman Antravious Simmons and 6’9 walk-on Emerson Burke out of Fork Union Military Academy.

Litos went on to tweet that the typical recovery time frame for such an injury is six to eight weeks. The Rams regular season gets underway in just over 10 weeks when VCU takes on the Redbirds of Illinois State on November 8th.
