VCU one-upped themselves today be entering the 2013-14 college basketball season as the No.14 team in the first official AP Poll, up one spot from their No.15 ranking in the opening edition of this year’s Coaches Poll. The ranking marks the first time VCU has ever entered a season ranked in the poll.
The Rams won’t waste much time before playing their first game against a ranked team this season, taking on UVA who enters the season at No.24 in the AP poll in their second game of the season. They will also most likely have a shot at No.7 Michigan if they can get past Florida State in the first round of this year’s Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
VCU is the only Atlantic 10 team to crack the top-25, but La Salle and SLU both received votes.
