VCU Final 4 team hero, Jamie Skeen, will join his hometown Charlotte Hornets in this year’s NBA Summer League.
Skeen played with the team last summer as well, formerly the Charlotte Bobcats, and appeared in limited Summer League action with the Chicago Bulls the previous season.
Skeen played his junior and senior seasons at VCU after transferring from Wake Forest. He helped lead the Rams to a CBI Championship in VCU’s first season under Shaka Smart, then saw his points jump from 8.1 as a junior to 15.7 as a senior due to the early NBA entry of former big Larry Sanders. Skeen led the Rams to their first ever Final 4, scoring 27 and 26 points in the Final 4 and Elite 8, the 26-point performance coming in the Elite 8 against a Kansas Jayhawk team that had four bigs eventually go on to become NBA Draft lottery picks.
After VCU Skeen has played with a number of European pro teams, including stops in France, Israel and Italy before crossing the pond to a recent stint in Puerto Rico that saw him shoot 60% from the field in his brief time with Caciques de Humacao.
