VCU turned a nine-point halftime lead into a rout, taking down East Tennessee State, 84-60 in front of yet another sold out Siegel Center.
The Rams locked down on a strong three-point shooting Bucs squad, holding ETSU below their three-point season average and to just 38.5% shooting on the night. The black and gold totaled 18 steals, seven of which came from senior Briante Weber, to make for 22 ESTU turnovers in the rout.
Weber moves to 10th all-time on the NCAA’s career steals list after that effort.
VCU turned the ball over just nine times themselves to 23 assists.
Melvin Johnson led VCU with a team-high 15 points while senior guard Treveon Graham added 13 of his own to go along with a team-high eight rebounds.
Freshman Michael Gilmore was the only other Ram to finish in double-digits, totaling 10 points in his 17 minutes on 4-6 shooting.
VCU played 11 players double-digit minutes in the win.
VCU has won their last four contest, the last three coming by an average margin of victory of 24 points per contest.
The Rams will take a week off before hosting Cleveland State Monday, December 29 at 7PM.
