VCU at SLU: Here Comes The King…

Far be it for me to contradict a coach, but I’m not buying that any part of prior years games against the Billikens matters tonight. Jim Crews has his kids playing hard, but this team will start three freshmen and a transfer who has played just 18 games for Crews. They may one day become Jordair Jett and Dwayne Evans, but right now they are Davell Roby and Milik Yarbrough.

That said, it’s a Friday night and the Rams are the object of target practice. The SLU fans get after it, and you can bet they will be well-oiled and ready. It will be a big time atmosphere.

Here’s assistant coach Mike Morrell with a smart guy’s preview. I ask him about New SLU, Treveon Graham’s ankle, and the VCU bench.

(Side note: Jarred Guest is good to go and will play tonight. Look for him at the top of the diamond press. Morrell noted that Guest has been a factor, even in limited time, changing the effectiveness of the press.)
