The Rams continued their winning streak with an easy home win over the reigning A-10 tournament champion, Saint Joseph’s, downing Phil Martelli’s squad 89-74 in a game that, truth be told, wasn’t even as close as the final score suggests.

VCU took a 16-point lead into the half as Melvin Johnson buried on of his six three-pointers of the night, then extended that lead to 27 in the second as they cruised to the eventual 15-point victory.

Johnson led the Rams with 20 points in his 21 minutes of action, connecting on six of his seven attempts from deep on a night VCU shot 52.2% behind the arc as a team.

Treveon Graham has four of the Rams  12 threes, finishing with 19 points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes of action. Senior backcourt mate, Briante Weber, added 11 points of his own to go with seven assists and five steals to stuff the stat sheet. The five steals extends his career total to 358, giving him sole possession of fourth place on the NCAA’s all-time steals list.

Freshman Terry Larrier added 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting for the Rams and grabbed five rebounds off the bench. Larrier has posted double-digit scoring in four of his last eight contests as well and an eight-point night in just 24 minutes at Fordham.

The win moves VCU t0 13-3 and 3-0 in conference play heading into a three-game road trip that starts Tuesday at Rhode Island (11-3, 3-0).
