The rumors were true: Will Wade is a working machine!
Coach just notched his second recruit in two days. And, for those keeping score at home, that is five recruits in approximately six weeks. Nwankwo, a 6’9″ Power Forward from Mount Vernon, NY, recently asked out of his National Letter of Intent from the University of Minnesota. Previous to that Nwankwo received offers from schools like Tennessee, Boston College, Drexel, and Seton Hall.
Coincidentally, Ram fans might recall that former signee, Jordan Murphy, recently signed on to play with Minnesota after asking for a release from his NLI at VCU.
The 240lb Nwankwo will be a welcome addition in the paint for the Rams, averaging 18.1 points, 14.0 rebounds, and 3.4 blocks over 7 games in his 2014 campaign. Look for Nwankwo to bring a toughness in going to the rim, put down plenty of dunks, and be an aggressive rebounder on both sides of the court.
It appears Coach wants to play BIG basketball. The A10 would do well to take notice that in addition to Justin Tillman, Michael Gilmore, and Mo Alie-Cox, VCU has now added Ahmed Hamdy Mohamed (6’9″, 245lb) and Jonathan Nwankwo (6’9″, 240lb).
VCU has now filled its last remaining scholarship for the 2015 year. All the pieces are in place. Now we just have to get bigger, faster, and stronger.
Which of the new guys are you most looking forward to watch?
LET’s GO VCU!!
