Briante Weber was something else. There are the obvious things like a VCU record 374 steals, three A-10 Defensive Player of the Year Awards and the fact he led the country in steals percentage in all four of his seasons as a D1 college basketball player (the only person ever to do so). But as great as those accomplishments were VCU fans will no doubt remember him more for the character he was and the joy he brought to the Siegel Center and Ram Nation.
Weber’s larger-than-life personality and maxed out effort on a nightly basis, diving for every loose ball and even an opposing team roll-in or two (famously…we’ll never forget that George Mason play), made him an all-timer among fan favorites at VCU. Ram fans hate to see him go but at the same time, know we haven’t seen the last of Mr. Bri-Fense, both at the Stu and on the hardwood as he continues his playing career at the professional level.
Weber took one last stroll on both the Richmond Coliseum and Siegel Center floors this past March, this time as a graduating student of Virginia Commonwealth University. He was nice enough to take our Ram Nation Bri-cam along with him.
Enjoy.
