Rams picked to finish 5th by A-10 media, Alie-Cox, Johnson earn preseason honors

Atlantic 10 media day is underway in Brooklyn, NY where the Rams were picked to finish fifth in this year’s preseason Poll.

VCU finished tied for fourth in last season’s conference play but entered the 2015 A-10 tournament as the No.5 seed due to a head-to-head tie-breaker owned by Richmond.

Mo Alie-Cox and Melvin Johnson earned a little preseason hardware as well, both earning Third Team All-Conference honors with Alie-Cox grabbing a spot on the All-Defensive Team as well.

VCU was last year’s preseason No.1 but struggled late due to injuries to both Briante Weber and Treveon Graham, losing six of their last 11 games after a 7-0 start to conference play. The skid forced VCU to win an extra A-10 tourney game due to missing the bye given to the top-four seeds. VCU did just that and turned a four-game winning streak in four days into an A-10 championship.
