VCU made easy work of a struggling American team, downing the Eagles 72-44.
The black and gold jumped out to a 16-point halftime lead and never looked back, wreaking havoc on the Patriot League squad to the tune of 22 Eagles turnovers on the game, 16 of which game in the first half alone.
The Rams didn’t have their best shooting night but suffocated American defensively and dominated the glass, 42-29.
Justin Tillman finished with 14 of those rebounds and added 10 points for his second double-double of the season. He was 5-12 from the field.
Melvin Johnson once again led all players with a game-high 13 points and three assists.
Korey Billbury was all hustle for the Rams, grabbing a total of eight rebounds and scored 12 points on 4-9 shooting.
