VCU dropped their final game of this year’s 2K Classic to last season’s national runner-up, Wisconsin, seeing a one-point lead with under 30 seconds to play turn into the Rams second loss of the season thanks to a game-winning shot by the Badgers’ Bronson Keonig.
It was the second consecutive game VCU led one of last season’s championship game participants at the half but also the second straight contest they saw their offense fail them late.
The Rams shot over 51% in the first half of both games against Duke and Wisconsin but connected on less than 35% of their second half attempts in each.
Will Wade’s squad will look to remedy that drop-off Wednesday night against the Eagles of American before facing Old Dominion in a huge rivalry game this Saturday.
