VCU Collects Road Victory In 79-69 Win Over Davidson

Will Wade’s first season with the Rams continues to impress as VCU advances to 16-5 overall with a key win on the road against the Davidson Wildcats (12-7). This victory is VCU’s 11th straight win, advancing to 8-0 in Atlantic 10 play, and VCU maintains sole possession of 1st the league.

While Davidson’s leading scorer Jack Gibbs finished with 37 points (making up more than half of Davidson’s total points), VCU’s dominant interior presence was the biggest factor – VCU scored 46 points in the paint compared to Davidson’s 20. VCU also out-rebounded Davidson 45-26. Davidson only collect 4 total offensive rebounds, compared to VCU’s 13. Mo Alie-Cox was the key to VCU’s low-post presence, putting up 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Justin Tillman also contributed 10 points, 8 rebounds.

The Rams shot 50% overall – Jequan Lewis leading the Rams with 22 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals, while Melvin Johnson went 9 for 18, collecting 21 points.

VCU will travel to Philadelphia on Wednesday, February 3rd to play a struggling La Salle team that is currently in last place in the A-10, then will return home to the Siegel Center for a home matchup against George Washington on Saturday, February 6th.

There is no freedom of speech on their Facebook page. I was blocked from commenting on posts because I was "salty". I never used offensive language. Larger programs dont have time to deal with such trivial matters. Duke is one of the most hated basketball programs in the nation. Their Facebook people must be busy. Sincerely, salty VCU grad.
