After a tough win on Saturday the Rams were back at the Siegel Center Thursday night, hosting Louisiana-Monroe. In a season when there are no cake walks, the Warhawks certainly were no pushover. After trailing most of the first half, it wasn’t until the second that the Rams were able to surge ahead in the 78-65 win.
After leading by as many as 9, ULM was not able to withstand the blows dealt by senior Doug Brooks who would knock down 5 threes on the night, going 5 of 6 from behind the arc ending with 15 points. He also contributed with 6 assists.
Senior Mo Alie-Cox led all Rams in scoring with 16 points and 5 rebounds but it would be a team effort that saw 4 players for VCU score double digits. Senior JeQuan Lewis and redshirt freshman Samir Doughty would score 14 and 10, respectively.
ULM turned the ball over 22 times to VCU’s 14, allowing VCU to get 26 points off turnovers.
The only stat line that VCU failed to beat the Warhawks on was rebounds. The team from the Sun Belt Conference grabbed just one more board than the Rams, 40-39.
The win moves VCU to 9-3 on the season. The Rams will play on Tuesday, December 27th at 9pm against Howard University.
