Rams secure Senior Day win against Patriots, 72-60

VCU improved to 24-7 overall on the year and 14-4 in conference play after defeating the Patriots of visiting George Mason University, 72-60.

Jordan Burgess wasted no time in getting the Rams rolling on Senior Day at the Stuart C. Siegel Center.

Scoring 9 points, while grabbing 3 rebounds and 1 steal before the first media break, Burgess help the Rams secure a 35-25 lead going into the locker room.

He would end the night with 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Justin Tillman led all scorers on the afternoon with 24 points. He secured the double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds.

Seniors Doug Brooks and JeQuan Lewis added 3 and 1 points, respectively. Lewis picked up his fifth and disqualifying foul with only 28 seconds left in the game. However, he was able to tally 9 assists in his final game at the Siegel Center.

Mo Alie-Cox added 6 points and 4 rebounds to finalize his legacy in Richmond. The senior big-man also blocked 3 shots on the afternoon.

GMU turned the ball over 16 times while the Rams only had 5 miscues.

The Rams scored an impressive 54 points in the paint to counter a less-than-average 17% three-point shooting night.

The vicotry tonight secured 101 total wins for the graduating senior class of JeQuan Lewis, Torey Burston, Doug Brooks, Jordan Burgess, and Mo Alie-Cox.

The win secures a #2 seed spot in the upcoming A10 Tournament.

The Rams return to action at 6:00PM on Friday, March 10th in Pittsburgh, PA.
