Darius Thompson (Murfreesboro, TN) is currently on an unofficial visit to VCU this weekend.

The 6’4” guard is transferring from UVA where he played in 70 career games. He starting in 25 of those contests during his tenure.

Thompson originally started his collegiate career with the Tennessee Volunteers before transferring to UVA after just one year. He initially received offers from high-major schools: Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M, Butler, Vanderbilt, Purdue, and both UVA and Tennessee.

In his second year with the Cavaliers, Thompson averaged 22 minutes per game in which he tallied 7.4ppg, 2.6apg, and 2.1rpg.

Darius looks to fill a guard spot for the Rams who lost a combined 26 points per game with the graduation of Senior guards JeQuan Lewis, Doug Brooks, and Jordan Burgess.

In his final season with the UVA, Darius Thompson shot a smooth 44% from the field overall. He also shot 35% from deep, and 60% from the free throw line.

Out of High School, rated Thompson as the 7th best guard in the state of Tennessee at his position and gave him 3 stars overall.

Thompson is a graduate transfer and will be immediately eligible to play next season.
