Even though there were many new faces on the court on Saturday for VCU’s annual Black and Gold scrimmage, it still felt like a homecoming as Coach Mike Rhoades took the court to welcome Ram Nation back to the Siegel Center or maybe it was the other way around.
Coach promised the crowd a fast paced, up and down game for 32 minutes, playing two 16 minutes half and that is what the fans got.
Ram fans got a first glimpse at a VCU team that saw 9 new faces on the court. Senior Khris Lane led all everyone in scoring with — points and grabbed — rebounds, showing a strong presence in the paint that will definitely be needed.
Freshman, Marcus Santos-Silva was next in line with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomores, De’Riante Jenkins and Issac Vann both chipped in 12 each. This marked Vann’s first return the court after redshirting last year.
