Weber signs two-way deal with Houston Rockets
Free agent guard Briante Weber has signed a two-way deal with the NBA’s Houston Rockets. The former Ram will report to the Rockets’ G League affiliate, Rio Grande, but could see his name called up sooner than later as Houston looks to temporarily replace an injured Chris Paul who will miss the next two to three weeks.
Weber was recently waived by the Las Angeles Lakers after a training camp invite and had previously played in Charlotte, Golden State, Memphis and Miami.
The two-way deal allows Houston to add the defensive specialist without counting against their current 14-man roster. The deal also includes a team option for the 2018-19 season.
Weber played four seasons at VCU, seeing the last of those seasons cut short with an ACL tear that halted him just 12 steals shy of the NCAA’s all-time steals record.
The 24-year old battled his way back from injury, exploding statistically in his time with G League Souix Falls, earning Second Team G League Honors and a First Team All-Defensive selection in 2017.
