In a game that saw either team capable of making an offense run, and 11 lead changes through 40 minutes of action, VCU was able to outlast Bucknell, 85-79.
VCU responded to a 7-0 run from the Bison in the first half by going on a 17-4 run of their own. Malik Crowfield scored 6 points during the Rams near 6 minute run.
Crowfield returned to action after missing the previous four games. The shooter wasted no time in getting back in rhythm as he finish the night with 12 points on three three-pointers. His remaining three points came from the free throw line after being fouled on shot from downtown.
Justin Tillman scored a game-high 26 points on 9-16 shooting. The senior also went 1-1 from three, and 7-8 from the charity stripe. His 7 rebounds were a team-high for the Rams.
A three-pointer by Jonathan Williams at the first-half buzzer put the Rams ahead 46-36 at the break.
Bucknell would start the second half on a 17-6 run. Nana Foulland scored 6 points during the run for the Bison, and would end the night with a team-high 23 points, and 14 rebounds.
Williams would dish out 6 assists to go with his 17 points for the Rams. He was the only other Ram to enter double-digit scoring.
VCU was able to score 23 points off of 17 Bison turnovers.
The Rams also got help from it’s bench in the form of 35 points.
VCU will return to action Tuesday, December 19th at 7pm as they host the Eagles of Winthrop.
