Video: Rams battle; defeat Bucknell 85-79 [INSIDER]

After a 6 day hiatus, Ram Nation packed the Siegel Center as they welcomed the Bucknell Bison Saturday evening. VCU, coming off of one of their worst losses in recent history, 90-67 against Seton Hall last week, looked to bounce back. It would take the entire 40 minutes but VCU would get the win, 85-79.

Senior Justin Tillman led all Rams in scoring with 26 points. The Detroit native also grabbed 7 boards. Senior Johnny Williams was next up with 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting on the night.

The team from the Patriot league turned the ball over 17 times to VCU’s 11 but the Bison won the battle of the glass, grabbing 33 rebounds to VCU’s 29.

Bucknell head coach, Nathan Davis and VCU heach coach, Mike Rhoades are friends that share a tie to Randolph Macon College. Davis replaced Rhoades as head coach at RMC when Rhoades accepted the assistant position under Shaka Smart at VCU in 2009.

The win moves VCU to 6-5 on the season. The Rams will host Winthrop on Tuesday, December 19th at 7pm.
