Video: VCU opens conference play with win, defeat Fordham 76-63 [INSIDER]

VCU hosted the first game to kick off Atlantic 10 conference play early Saturday afternoon as they welcomed Fordham. The Rams aimed for their 4th straight win. Behind another strong performance by senior Justin Tillman, VCU got their 9th win of the season, 76-63.

Once again it was Senior Justin Tillman who led the way for the Rams in scoring. Tillman scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in the win. This marked the 5th double double of the season (his 3rd straight) for the Detroit native.

Sophomore De’Riante Jenkins chipped in 14 points as well as 4 assists.

Sophomore Issac Vann made his return to the lineup after only playing 3 minutes in the last 9 games. Vann scored 9 points and dished 5 assists. Sophomore Malik Crowfield also scored in double digits with 10 points.

VCU shot 50% (28-56) from the field and 41% (9-22) from behind the arc.

The win moves VCU to 9-5 (1-0) on the on the season. VCU will travel to Philadelphia on Wednesday, January 3rd as they take on Saint Joseph’s at 7pm.
