After two games that VCU would like to quickly put in our rearview, Ram Nation packed the Siegel Center Saturday afternoon to face off against George Washington. It wasn’t until the second half but the Rams played team ball and got back on the right side of the results column with a 87-63 win.
Senior Justin Tillman and Sophomore De’Riante Jenkins both led the way with 18 points each. Tillman ended just two rebounds shy of another double double.
Freshman Sean Mobley had 8 assists and 3 rebounds in 24 minutes of play. His stats understate his contributions in the win. The game also marked his first college career start.
Senior Johnny Williams chipped in 14 points and 4 assists and Freshman Marcus Santos-Silva found himself in the double digits with 11 points and 5 rebounds.
VCU shot 55% from the field, connecting on 32 of 58 shots and went 7-19 from behind the arc.
The win moves VCU to 12-8 (4-3) on the season. VCU travels to Saint Louis on Tuesday to take on the Billikens at 9pm. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
