Video: Rams late surge not enough to fight off Wildcats; lose to Davidson 74-63 [INSIDER]

After getting an overtime win Saturday, VCU met Davidson for their only matchup in the regular season on Wednesday night. The last three time the Wildcats came to The Siegel Center, they would leave defeated. This time through would be different as the Rams would fall just short of mounting a last minute comeback in the 74-63 loss.

After a career high on Saturday against Dayton, Senior Justin Tillman would once again lead all Rams in scoring. Tillman scored 22 while the next highest was sophomore De’Riante Jenkins with 19.

Tillman ended just 2 rebounds short of another double double. He had 8 boards.

From the field, VCU has seen better performances. The Rams shot 42% from the field and 36% from behind the arc.

Davidson shot only 4% better with 46%. The Wildcats shot 38% from 3 point range, going 10-26 to VCU’s 10-28.

The loss moves VCU to 15-11 (7-6) on the season. VCU travels to Washington D.C. to face George Washington University at 4pm on Saturday, February 17th.
