VCU (8-4) used a 16-0 run to start the second half, including back-to-back triples from De’Riante Jenkins, to cruise to victory over Wichita State, 70-54.
Jenkins ended the night with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. He was one of four Rams to finish in double-digits for the game.
Marcus Evans (15 pts, 5 ast) and Marcus Santos-Silva (10pts, 5reb) also joined Jenkins in double figures.
The first half ended in a three point advantage for the Rams, 37-34, despite VCU shooting only 2-13 for 15% from deep.
The Rams ended the night shooting an impressive 50% from the floor despite struggling with the deep ball going 5-25 on the afternoon for 20%.
The Rams held the Shockers scoreless from the field in the first 7 minutes and 50 seconds of the second half.
Wichita State struggled mightily with the defense of VCU today turning the ball over 17 times and 36% overall and 23% from range.
Of the 17 turnovers by the Shockers, VCU was able to convert those into 13 points.
Isaac Vann was the final Ram in double-digit scoring for the day, and he led all-scorers with 18 points. The junior guard shot an impressive 58% on 7-12 shots, including 2-4 from deep, and 2-2 from the free throw line.
The Rams will return to action December 30th as the face their final out-of-conference foe, Rider University. That game is set to tip-off at 2PM EST.
