RECAP: Rams fall to Wildcats in first conference loss, 64-57

VCU (11-5, 2-1) got up by double-digits on the Davidson Wildcats, but were unable to close out the victory as they fell, 64-57.

Davidson used a 18-4 run over the final 5 minutes to close out the game. Over that time span, VCU was only able to go 1-11 from the floor.

Despite being down by 5 points at the half, VCU was able to use a 22-5 run to start the second half to take a 12 point lead.

During this stretch of game, the Rams were shooting 9-13 rom the floor, including two three-pointers. Davidson on the other hand was held to 1-14 shooting.

De’Riante Jenkins scored 6 points during the Rams momentum filled run, while Marcus Evans kicked in with 5 points.

Evans and Jenkins were the only two Rams in double digit scoring on the afternoon with 16 and 10 points, respectively.

Marcus Evans also led the Rams with 7 rebounds and 2 assists. The junior point guard also came up with 1 of VCU’s 5 steals.

VCU was the victim of their own device as they turned the ball over 13 times (Davidson – 9 turnovers) that led to 14 points for the Wildcats.
